RELEASE OF SUSPENDED MPLAD FUNDS

MPLADS funds released to the district authority by the Government of India are non-cancellable. Funds left in the district can be carried over for use in subsequent years. In addition, funds not released by the GOI in one year will be carried over for releases in subsequent years subject to meeting the criteria set out in paragraph 4.3 and paragraph 4.4 of the MPLADS Guidelines, 2016.

Any unspent balance of a particular Member of Parliament’s annual envelope will be carried over and added to that Member of Parliament’s annual envelope for the following financial year and the withdrawal limits on his/her account with the nodal district authority will be set accordingly [Para-10.4.4 of MPLADS Guidelines, 2023].

MPLADS funds in the amount of Rs.6320 crore i.e. Rs.3,950 crore for the financial year (FY) 2020-21 and Rs.2,370 crore for the financial year 2021-22 have been made available to the Ministry of Finance to manage the health and negative impacts of Covid-19 on society to increase capital outlay, including health infrastructure and various social security measures for the poor and needy.
