Portal for National Awards to Teachers (Higher Education) 2024 Launched

New Delhi – Secretary of Higher Education, Shri Sanjay Murthy, and Chairman of AICTE, Shri T. G Sitharam, today launched the portal for nominations for the National Awards to Teachers (Higher Education) 2024. This initiative aims to honor exemplary teachers and faculty members from higher education institutions across India, recognizing their exceptional contributions to education and society.

The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, has issued detailed guidelines for the submission of nominations. These prestigious awards are open to faculty members from both technical and non-technical higher education institutions, as well as teachers from polytechnic institutions. The awards are divided into three sub-categories based on broad academic disciplines:

To be eligible for nomination, faculty members must meet the following criteria:

Nomination Procedure

Nominations can be submitted through self-nomination or by a current/former Vice-Chancellor, Director, Principal, or colleague from the same institution. Previous nominees are also eligible for re-nomination. The nomination process aims to recognize faculty members for their distinctive contributions in teaching, community outreach, institutional service, research, and innovative work in higher education.

The deadline for submitting nominations is June 20, 2024. Selected awardees will be honored on September 5, 2024, Teachers’ Day, in memory of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and an eminent educator. The National Awards to Teachers 2024 aims to celebrate the hard work and dedication of outstanding educators who have significantly impacted higher education in India, enriching the lives of their students and contributing to the advancement of their fields.
