The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Renukaji Dam project. Having remained pending for more than three decades, the project was made possible by the vision of cooperative federalism of Prime Minister when six states, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Delhi, were brought together by the Centre to make it happen. A 40 MW project will cost around Rs 7000 crore. Also, as a result, Delhi will be able to receive around 500 million cubic metres of water per year.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for Luhri Stage 1 Hydro Power Project. Over Rs 1800 crore will be spent on the 210 MW project. The project will generate over 750 million units of electricity per year. Reliable grid support will benefit neighbouring states as well.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Dhaulasidh Hydro Power Project. This is the first hydropower project in Hamirpur district. At a cost of over Rs 680 crore, the 66 MW project will be built. The project will generate over 300 million units of electricity a year.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Sawra-Kuddu Hydro Power Project. The 111 MW project has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 2080 crore. The project will generate over 380 million units of electricity per year and will generate over Rs 120 crore in revenue for the state.

The Prime Minister will also preside over the second ground-breaking ceremony of the Himachal Pradesh Global Investors’ Meet. Through the start of projects worth around Rs 28,000 crore, the meeting is expected to boost investment in the region.

The Government is planning to meet the energy demands of the country by using both renewable and non-renewable energy sources in the next 10 years. According to sources, there are 79 hydro schemes with an aggregate capacity of more than 30.000 MW (forming 11 Pumped Storage Schemes of 8700 MW) planned for the next 10 years (2020 – 2030).
