The Prime Minister will speak at the NIIO (Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation) seminar ‘Swavlamban’ on 18th July 2022.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat is all about self-sufficiency in the defence sector. The Prime Minister will unveil ‘SPRINT Challenges’ during the program. These are aimed at boosting indigenous technology in the Indian Navy. Under the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, NIIO, along with the Defense Innovation Organization (DIO), aims to induct at least 75 new indigenous products/technologies into the Indian Navy. SPRINT stands for Supporting Pole-Vaulting in R&D through iDEX, NIIO, and TDAC.

Seminar on Production & Use of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia in Process Industry

The seminar aims to get Indian industry and academia on board with achieving self-reliance in the defence sector. A two-day seminar (18-19 July) will bring together leaders from industry, academia, services, and government to come up with recommendations for the Defence Sector. During the conference, there will be sessions on innovation, indigenous development, armaments, and aviation. On the second day, the Seminar will reach out to the Indian Ocean Region, in line with SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region).

On July 1, 2022, the Autonomous Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator flew for the first time from the Aeronautical Test Range, Chitradurga, Karnataka. In automatic mode, the aircraft performed a flawless flight, including takeoff, waypoint navigation, and landing. It’s a huge step towards developing unmanned aircraft and a huge step towards self-reliance in defence technologies of the future.
