Shree Kalika Mata

The Prime Minister inaugurated the newly redeveloped temple of Shree Kalika Mata on Pavagadh Hill today. In addition to being one of the oldest temples in the area, it attracts a large number of pilgrims. The redevelopment of the temple has been done in 2 phases. Earlier this year, the Prime Minister attended the opening ceremony of the first phase of the massive redevelopment project in April. In 2017, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the second phase. The project includes expanding the temple base and building the parisar at three levels, installing streetlights, etc.

He expressed his gratitude for being able to attend the temple. He underlined the importance of the moment today when after 5 centuries and even 75 years after independence, the ‘dhwaja’ sacred flag was hoisted on the temple. “Today, after centuries, the flag is once again hoisted on top of Pavagadh temple,” he said. The Shikhar Dhwaj flag is not only a symbol of our faith and spirituality, it’s also a symbol of the fact that time changes, eras change, but faith never dies.” He said that this redevelopment right before Gupt Navratri is an indication that ‘Shakti’ never dims.

The Prime Minister said that India’s spiritual and cultural glory is being restored, referring to Ayodhya, Kashi Vishvanath Dham, and Kedar Dham. ‘Today, New India is proudly living its ancient identity, as well as its modern aspirations. Along with centers of faith, new possibilities of our progress are emerging, and this grand temple at Pavagadh is part of that,’ he said. This temple also symbolizes Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.

In a reminiscence, the Prime Minister recalled how Swami Vivekananda became a public servant after hearing Maa Kali’s briefings. He said he asked the goddess for strength to serve the people today. Modi prayed “Mother, bless me so that I can continue serving the people with more energy, sacrifice, and dedication. I should devote whatever strength I have, whatever virtues I have in my life, to the welfare of the mothers and sisters of this country.”
