The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) is working hard to promote cleanliness and hygiene at workplaces across India. In line with the governmentโ€™s campaign to make India cleaner, the Ministry has been organizing cleanliness drives all over the country. From December 2023 to August 2024, the Ministry organized 757 cleanliness events. During these events, they got rid of old files, cleaned up office spaces, and earned Rs. 69.37 crore by selling scrap material. This helped create a healthier working environment and freed up 19.07 lakh square feet of space.

Special Campaign for Cleanliness

The Ministry of Heavy Industries is a top performer in the governmentโ€™s Special Campaign 3.0 on Swachhata (cleanliness). During this campaign, they ranked second in terms of space freed by cleaning and disposing of scrap. They cleared out 21 lakh square feet of space and earned Rs. 4.66 crore by selling old, unused materials. This achievement placed them fifth in terms of revenue generation during the campaign.

Preparing for Special Campaign 4.0

Looking forward, the Ministry is getting ready for the Special Campaign 4.0, which will take place from October 2, 2024, to October 31, 2024. The Ministry is working with Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and other organizations under its control to identify locations that need cleaning. They are planning to make sure their goals are met during this upcoming campaign.

Celebrating Swachhata Pakhwara

From August 16 to August 31, 2024, the Ministry and its partner organizations celebrated Swachhata Pakhwara, a two-week event focused on cleanliness. Various activities were organized to highlight the importance of keeping workplaces and public spaces clean and healthy.

Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign

In addition to these efforts, the Ministry is also taking part in the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign. This campaign runs from September 17 to October 1, 2024, and focuses on cleaning specific areas that have been identified as needing attention. Community participation is a key part of this campaign, with the goal of increasing awareness about the importance of cleanliness and sanitation among the general public.

Importance of Cleanliness for a Healthy India

These efforts by the Ministry of Heavy Industries are part of a larger national movement to promote cleanliness across the country. By organizing large-scale cleanup drives, the Ministry not only helps create better, more organized workplaces but also spreads awareness about how cleanliness is essential for health and productivity. The Swachhata Campaigns are also a way to bring communities together, encouraging people to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.

By focusing on hygiene and organization, the Ministry has proven that cleanliness can bring many benefits, from healthier workplaces to extra income from recycling materials. As the Special Campaign 4.0 approaches, the Ministry is set to continue leading the way in making India a cleaner and greener place to live and work.
