The National Conference on Enforcement and Capacity Building in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) kicked off with a three-day event in Andhra Pradesh. The event was inaugurated by Shri Surjit Bhujabal, Member (Customs), Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), at the new National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics (NACIN) campus in Palasamudram.

Importance of Protecting Intellectual Property

This conference is expected to play a big role in improving India’s IPR policies and showing the country’s strong commitment to protecting intellectual property. The main message of the event is that collaboration is key. Working together with government agencies, rights holders, and international organizations will help make sure that IPR protection in India is stronger and more effective.

During the event, Shri Surjit Bhujabal spoke about the importance of Indian Customs in enforcing IPR laws. He talked about the need for building the capacity of Customs officers and using new technology to stop violations of intellectual property rights. Shri Bhujabal also highlighted the importance of creating better strategies and working together with different groups to protect IP in India.

Focus of the Conference

The conference will cover many important topics, including improving how different agencies work together to enforce IPR laws and building capacity to handle these issues in India. There will also be discussions with Customs officers and rights holders to address the challenges they face in protecting intellectual property. A key part of the event will be special training sessions at NACIN Palasamudram to help officers and stakeholders understand these issues better.

A Look at the Future of IPR Training

One of the exciting highlights of this conference is the introduction of NACIN Palasamudram’s Immersive Training Centre. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to give CBIC officers and other participants hands-on training in IPR enforcement. The center uses advanced technologies like Interactive Learning Walls, Flipbooks, and learning kiosks to teach complex IPR laws. There’s also a self-learning space with important information about major IPR cases, giving officers a chance to learn in a more detailed and practical way.

Technology and International Cooperation

As the world becomes more digital, e-commerce and online businesses also play a big role in IP enforcement. The conference will also address these aspects and include discussions on India’s National IP Database, which helps protect intellectual property. Participants at the event include senior officials from government agencies, representatives from international organizations, and rights holders who are all working towards stronger IPR protection.

Strengthening IPR in India

This conference is an important step for India in improving its IPR enforcement policies. The Immersive Training Centre at NACIN Palasamudram will provide Customs officers with the skills they need to protect intellectual property, ensuring that IP violations are handled more effectively. This event shows that India is committed to fostering a stronger, more unified approach to protecting intellectual property in the country.

By hosting such a comprehensive event, India is setting the stage for future advancements in IPR protection. This is a significant move that will benefit both the country and the global community in protecting valuable intellectual assets.
