Funds for Construction of Roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana

The allocation/release of funds to the States for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) takes place on the basis of the proposal received from the State and depends, among others, on the ongoing works, the execution capacity of the State and the unspent funds available with it. Funds for the implementation of projects under the PMGSY are released by the Ministry to the state as a whole. Further release of funds to the Program Implementation Units (PIUs) at the district level is made by the respective states based on the expenditure to be made.

The amount released and expenses incurred including Maharashtra State dues from 2018-19 on a yearly basis are given below:-

As of 20.07.2023, Maharashtra State has an unspent balance of Rs. 747.68 crore for PMGSY implementation. Details of the fund issued to a particular district of a state are not maintained centrally. Funds are not allocated for a Gram Panchayat under PMGSY.

According to the information received from the state government, Konshi – Dabhil road is not sanctioned under PMGSY.

This information was given today by the Union State Minister for Rural Development, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, in a written response to the Lok Sabha.
