Chartered Accountants, CA Day 2021 is observed to mark the foundation day of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, ICAI. CA Day is celebrated annually to honor around 2.5 lakh members of ICAI and chartered accountants across the globe. On the occasion of CA Day 2021, PM Modi’s Tweet addressed to Chartered Accountants reads, “Greetings to all Chartered Accountants on CA Day. This community has a vital role in India’s progress. I call upon all CAs to keep the focus on excellence so that Indian firms emerge as one of the best globally.”

Looking ahead, ICAI is also going to launch an app for CA foundation, intermediate and final course students on the occasion of CA day. The app for CA students can be downloaded by students from google play for android users. Some of the features of this app would be the inclusion of education-based content, live coaching classes, online assessment, etc. Students can even access the recorder lectures from this mobile app to be launched by ICAI today on CA Day 2021. Keeping pandemic and devastated damage in mind, the ICAI also decided to waives course fees of that Foundation, Intermediate, and Final CA students who lost any of their parents due to #Covid19

 

History of the day

During the British regime, all companies used to keep a firm record of their accounts under the Companies Act of India. Certified auditors, who completed a course on accountancy diploma, used to audit the books of accounts.

In India, the accounting profession remained unregulated till 1948. In the same year, an expert committee suggested the formation of an autonomous body and the Chartered Accountant Act in 1949. The ICAI was established on 1 July 1949 to regulate the accounting laws in India.

Significance

Chartered Accountant is regarded as one of the most honored and noble professions in India. CAs play a very important role in the economic development of our nation. The day is celebrated to honour the Chartered accountants in India.

The ICAI is the most professional institute in the country for enhanced regulation of the accounting profession in India. CA Day is observed to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of India’s most professional and oldest accounting body.
