The All India Radio fleet has shifted to electric vehicles for all transportation needs as a part of the Centre’s green initiatives and vision on Electric Mobility. Shashi Shekhar Vempati, CEO of Prasar Bharati, and N Venudhar Reddy, director general of All India Radio, unveiled an electric vehicle fleet at Akashvani Bhawan in New Delhi earlier today.

This is the second largest fleet of electric vehicles in Delhi, contributing to the environmental goals of the country.

Shashi Shekhar Vempati, CEO of Prasar Bharati, said it’s a big deal to switch to electric vehicles. It’s Prime Minister Modi’s mission to make India clean and green.

First-ever test of Electric Tractor

N Venudhar Reddy, the director general of All India Radio, hopes more stations will adopt electric vehicles after seeing the success of Akashvani Bhawan’s E-Vehicles. AIR has signed an E-Vehicles agreement with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) for five years.

CESL, a joint venture of public sector companies under the Ministry of Power, leases all the Electric Vehicles to All India Radio on a wet lease basis. Prasar Bharati’s Civil Construction Wing laid the charging network for electric vehicles.
