On 8 February Doodle celebrates Haitian American model and disability rights advocate Mama Cax (22 December 1990 -16 December 2019). Mama Cax is best known for shattering expectations around beauty. On 8 February 2019, Mama Cax made her debut on a runway at New York Fashion Week.

Life and Career

Mama Cax, whose real name was Cacsmy Brutus, was a Haitian-American model, influencer, and activist born on 22 December 1990 in Haiti. She was known for her activism and advocacy for body positivity and inclusion, particularly for people with disabilities.

At the age of 14, Mama Cax lost her right leg to cancer and later, in 2018, she lost her left leg due to complications from same cancer. Despite her disabilities, she became a prominent model and influencer, using her platform to promote body positivity and raise awareness about the experiences of people with disabilities.

Mama Cax’s modeling career took off in 2016, when she was discovered by a fashion brand while studying in college. She went on to work with numerous brands and designers, including Nike, H&M, and ASOS, and became known for her bold and unapologetic approach to modeling and fashion.

In addition to her modeling work, Mama Cax was also a prominent activist and advocate for body positivity and inclusion. She used her platform to raise awareness about the experiences of people with disabilities and to inspire others to embrace their bodies and feel confident and beautiful, regardless of their abilities or disabilities.
