Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (6 February 1890 – 20 January 1988), a great statesman, who participated in India’s freedom struggle and was known as “Sahadi Gandhi” (Gandhi) for his work and devotion. One of the foremost and charismatic leaders of the 20th century was the Pakhtuns (or Pathans; the Muslim ethnic group of Pakistan and Afghanistan). The humble Ghaffar always called himself only a ‘Soldier of Freedom Struggle’, but his admirers called him ‘Badshah Khan’. Gandhiji used to address him in the same way. By participating in the national movements, he has faced severe torture in jails many times. He was born on 6 February 1890.
Kavi Pradeep (6 February 1915 – 11 December 1998), originally named ‘Ramchandra Narayanji Dwivedi’. Pradeep was a very strong creator of Hindi literature and the Hindi film world. Poet Pradeep is known for his patriotic songs like ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon’. He wrote this song in tribute to the soldiers who died during the ‘India-China War’ of 1962. The song, sung by ‘Bharat Ratna’ awardee Swara Kokila Lata Mangeshkar, was telecast live from Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on 26 January 1963 in the presence of the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He was born on 6 February 1915 in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
Shanthakumaran Nair Sreesanth, an Indian cricketer and film actor who played all forms of the game. He is a right-arm fast-medium-pace bowler and a right-handed tail-ender batsman. He was born on 6 February 1983 in Kothamangalam, Kerala, India.

Death Anniversary
6 February in Indian history is observed as the death anniversary of the following personalities:
Pt. Motilal Nehru (6 May 1861 – 6 February 1931), the father of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. His wife’s name was ‘Swaroop Rani’. Motilal Nehru was such a person in the freedom movement of India who not only completely gave up the luxury of his life but also put everything at stake, including his family members, for the country. Motilal Nehru was one of the leading lawyers of the country in his time. He died on 6 February 1931.
Pratap Singh Kairon (1 October 1901 – 6 February 1965), a famous freedom fighter, former Chief Minister of Punjab and a prominent leader. At that time Haryana and Himachal Pradesh were also under ‘Punjab’. He died on 6 February 1965.
