Pandit Bhimsen Joshi (4 February 1922 – 24 January 2011), an important classical singer of the Kirana Gharana. He started singing at the age of 19 and continued to sing classical for seven decades. Bhimsen Joshi has made Karnataka proud. Earlier in the field of Indian music, M.S. Subbulakshmi, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, and Lata Mangeshkar have been awarded ‘Bharat Ratna’. The basis of his ability is his great musical practice. He was born on 4 February 1922 in Gadag, Karnataka.
Birju Maharaj (4 February 1938 – 17 January 2022), one of the famous classical dance artists of India. He was the master of the ‘Kathak’ style of Indian dance and a prominent representative of the ‘Kalka-Bindadin’ Gharana of Lucknow. It is a common practice to present Kathak dance with the melody of Taal and Ghungroos, but when it comes to converting the beats of the Taal and the swaying of the Ghungroos into the melody of Maharas, no other name comes to mind except Birju Maharaj. He was born on 4 February 1938 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Urmila Matondkar, an Indian actress, and politician. Known for her work in Hindi films, in addition to Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, and Tamil cinema, she has received numerous accolades, including the Filmfare Award and the Nandi Award. Through her film roles, she established a distinctive on-screen persona, was identified with her intense style and dancing skills. She was born on 4 February 1974 in Bombay, Maharashtra.

Death Anniversary
4 February in Indian history is observed as the death anniversary of the following personalities:
Madhusudan Das (28 April 1848 – 4 February 1934), an Indian lawyer and social reformer, founded Utkal Sammilani in 1903 to campaign for the unification of Odisha along with its social and industrial development. He died on 4 February 1934.
Hamidullah Khan (9 September 1894 – 4 February 1960), the last Nawab of the princely state of Bhopal in India. He was very educated and an efficient administrator of the princely state. Nawab Sultan Jahan Begum had announced the appointment of Hamidullah Khan as the ruler of the princely state on 16 May 1926, during her lifetime. On 9 June 1926, Hamidullah Khan became the ruler of the princely state of Bhopal. When he became the ruler, he made different ministers of all the departments. He died on 4 February 1960.
Satyendra Nath Bose (1 January 1894 – 4 February 1974), a famous mathematician and physicist. He suggested there are two types of molecules in physics – bosons, and fermions. He died on 4 February 1974 in Kolkata.
