Atahualpa Yupanqui (31 January 1908 – 23 May 1992) was an Argentine singer, songwriter, guitarist, and writer. He is considered the most important Argentine folk musician of the 20th century.
Life and Career
He was born on 31 January 1908 in Peru, he later moved to Argentina where he developed his unique style of folk music that combined indigenous Andean music with Spanish and European influences. He is considered one of the most important figures in Argentine folk music, and his work has had a significant influence on later generations of musicians in the country. Yupanqui lived a nomadic life, traveling throughout South America and Europe, performing and recording his music. He died in 1992, but his music continues to be popular and highly regarded.
