Pandit Mukharam Sharma (30 May 1909 – 26 April 2000), a well-known screenwriter of his time in ‘Indian Cinema’. He arrived in Mayanagri Mumbai from Meerut as an ordinary person and got a great status in the film world as a writer of fiction, screenplay, and dialogue. Film distributors from all over India used to call Mukharam Sharma and ask who his next film was and with whom. At that time Mukhramji’s answer was guaranteed to sell all rights to a film overnight. Distributors and producers used to make regular visits to his house to keep track of what he was writing. He had the exclusive right to sell his stories to the producers and directors of his choice. He was born on 30 May 1909 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
Suresh Hariprasad Joshi, an Indian novelist, short-story writer, literary critic, poet, translator, editor, and academic in the Gujarati language. He led the modernist movement in Gujarati literature along with his teaching career. He was a prolific writer and he transformed the field of literary criticism. He was known for his notable works Grihapravesh (1957), Janantike (1965), Chhinnapatra (1965), Maranottar (1973), Chintayami Manasa (1983). He was born on 30 May 1921 Valod, Bardoli, Bombay presidency, British India.
Velu Narayanasamy, an Indian politician who served as the 10th Chief Minister of Puducherry from 2016 to 2021. He belongs to the Indian National Congress political party. He previously served as a Member of Parliament, representing Puducherry in the Lok Sabha. He is a member of the Congress Working Committee as well as the All India Congress Committee’s General Secretary. He was born on 30 May 1947 in Pondichéry, French India (now Puducherry, India).
Paresh Rawal, an Indian actor, comedian, film producer, and politician known for his works notably in Hindi and few Telugu films. He was a member of parliament in the Lok Sabha of the Indian Parliament representing the Ahmedabad East constituency from 2014 to 2019. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) political party. He was famous for his roles in movies such as Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Chachi 420 (1997), Hera Pheri (2000), Nayak (2001), Aankhen (2002), Awara Paagal Deewana (2002), Hungama (2003), Hulchul (2004), Deewane Huye Paagal (2005), Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Malamaal Weekly (2006), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), Welcome (2007), Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? (2010), Ready (2010), OMG – Oh My God! (2012), Welcome Back (2015), Dharam Sankat Mein (2015), Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi (2017), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), Sanju (2018), and Coolie No. 1 (2020). He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India, for his contributions to the entertainment industry. Paresh was born on 30 May 1955 in Bombay, Bombay State, India.

Death Anniversary
30 May in Indian history is observed as the death anniversary of the following personalities:
Guru Arjan (15 April 1563 – 30 May 1606), the first of the two Gurus martyred in the Sikh faith and the fifth of the ten total Sikh Gurus. He compiled the first official edition of the Sikh scripture called the Adi Granth, which later expanded into the Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Arjan reorganized the Masands system initiated by Guru Ram Das, by suggesting that the Sikhs donate, if possible, one-tenth of their income, goods, or service to the Sikh organization (dasvand). He died on 30 May 1606 t the age 0f 43 in Lahore, Mughal Empire.
Narayan Malhar Joshi (5 June 1879 – 30 May 1955), the father of the ‘Trade Union Movement’ in India. He replaced the ‘All India Trade Union Congress’ in 1920 and was its secretary until 1929. Due to the influence of the Communists in the Congress, he left the Congress and formed a new organization called the ‘Trade Union Confederation’. He was also an elected member of the Central Legislative Assembly, Delhi. N.M Joshi continued to lead the moderate section in the All-India Trade Union Congress for a long time. He was also a member of the ‘Central Pay Commission’ in 1947 AD. Joshi also took interest in social service and established many hospitals for women and children. He also established schools for industrial training. He died on 30 May 1955 in Mumbai.
Dr. Ram Vilas Sharma (10 October 1912 – 30 May 2000), a well-known critic, essayist, thinker, and poet in modern Hindi literature. He was India’s first ‘Vyas Samman’ winner. Ramvilas Sharma was a major pillar of the Progressive Review System in Hindi. He died on 30 May 2000.
Rituparno Ghosh (31 August 1963 – 30 May 2013), an Indian film director, actor, writer, and lyricist. He got recognition for his second feature film Unishe April which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. Ghosh was mainly influenced by the works of Satyajit Ray and was a fervent reader of Rabindranath Tagore. He died on 30 May 2013 due to heart attack at the age of just 49 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
