Rash Behari Ghosh, an Indian politician, a well-known lawyer, and a social activist. He was greatly influenced by the political ideas of Gopal Krishna Gokhale. For him, the British rule in India was a blessing and he had great faith in Britain. In 1906, at the annual session of Congress in Calcutta, Rash Behari Ghosh became the chairman of the reception committee. The very next year he presided over the Surat session. He was born on 23 December 1845.

Ramvriksh Benipuri (23 December 1899 – 9 September 1968), an Indian novelist, story writer, essayist and playwright. He is also indescribable as a great thinker, thinker, contemplative revolutionary, litterateur, journalist, and editor. Benipuri ji was a famous litterateur of the ‘Shuklotttar era’ of Hindi literature. He was born on 23 December 1899 in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.

Chaudhary Charan Singh (23 December 1902 – 29 May 1987), the fifth Prime Minister of India. He was considered a strong leader who raised the voice of the farmers. Chaudhary Charan Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister was from 28 July 1979 to 14 January 1980. He became the Prime Minister of the country with the help of the Samajwadi Party and Congress. He was supported from outside by Congress and CPI, but he did not join his government. He was born on 23 December 1902.

Death Anniversary

23 December in Indian history is observed as the death anniversary of the following personalities:

Swami Shraddhanand (22 February 1856 – 23 December 1926), counted among the famous great men of India. He was one of the foremost such great patriotic ascetics, who devoted his whole life to the propagation of Vedic religion. He had done many things like achieving Swarajya, freeing the country from the slavery of the British, giving their rights to the Dalits and arranging for the Vedic education system in place of Western education. The biggest thing was that he was a well-known leader of Hindus and Muslims in the 18th century. He died on 23 December 1926 in Jalandhar, Punjab.

Arjun Lal Sethi (9 September 1880 – 23 December 1941), one of the freedom fighters of India. When the Governor-General Lord Hardinge’s procession was passing through Chandni Chowk in Delhi, a bomb was hurled at it. This plan to throw the bomb was made by Arjun Lal Sethi, So Sethi was arrested. Due to lack of evidence against him, he could not be punished, yet Sethi was kept in jail without trial. When political prisoners were pardoned in 1920, Arjun Lal Sethi was also released. After coming from jail, his place of work became Ajmer. He died on 23 December 1941.
