Interim payroll data from Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) reveals that 20.23 lakh new employees were added in the month of May 2023.
Approximately 24,886 new establishments were registered and brought under the Social Security umbrella of the State Employee Insurance Company in May 2023, thus ensuring greater coverage.
The data evidently reveals that more jobs have been generated for the youth of the nation as out of a total of 20.23 lakh employees added during May 2023, 9.40 lakh employees up to the age group of 25 constitute the most of the new registrations which is 47% of the total employees.
Gender analysis of payroll data indicates that the net enrollment of female members was 3.96 lakh as of May 2023. The data shows that a total of 71 transgender employees have also registered under the scheme ESI in May 2023. It shows that ESIC is committed to providing its benefits to every section of society.
Payroll data is provisional as data generation is an ongoing exercise.
