Birth Anniversary

19 November in Indian history is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the following personalities:

Rani Lakshmibai (19 November 1828 – 18 June 1858), the queen of the Maratha-ruled Jhansi state and the second martyr of the 1857 state revolution (the first martyr is Veerangana Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi 20 March 1858). At the age of just 29, he fought with the army of the British Empire and got martyrdom on the battlefield. It is said that Laxmibai was martyred due to the blow of the sword on the head. Mata Bhagirathibai was of a cultured, intelligent, and pious nature when her mother died. Because there was no one in the house to take care of Manu, the father started taking Manu with him to the court of Peshwa Bajirao II. Where the playful and beautiful Manu was fondly called by everyone as “Chhabili”. Manu took the education of weapons along with the education of scriptures in his childhood. Mata Bhagirathibai was of a cultured, intelligent, and pious nature when her mother died. Because there was no one in the house to take care of Manu, the father started taking Manu with him to the court of Peshwa Bajirao II. Where the playful and beautiful Manu was fondly called by everyone as “Chhabili”. Manu took the education of weapons along with the education of scriptures in his childhood. On 18 June 1858, Rani Laxmibai died while fighting the British army at Kota’s Sarai near Gwalior. In the report of the battle, British General Hughes remarked that Rani Lakshmibai was not only remarkable for her beauty, cunning, and tenacity but was also the most dangerous of the rebel leaders. She was Born on 19 November 1828 in Varanasi.

Keshav Chandra Sen (19 November 1838 – 8 January 1884), a famous religious and social reformer, was one of ‘Brahma Samaj’s founders. was one of them. He was a very intelligent, logical, and learned young man. He enthusiastically started organizing the society and due to this, he was soon appointed to the post of Acharya. Keshav Chandra Sen had advised the founder of Arya Samaj Swami Dayanand Saraswati to compose ‘Satyarth Prakash’ in Hindi. The ideas of Keshav Chandra Sen and Swamiji did not meet each other, due to which the Brahmo Samaj was divided into ‘Adi Brahmo Samaj’ and ‘Bharatiya Brahmo Samaj‘. On his return from England, Keshav Chandra Sen formed an organization called the ‘Indian Reform Association’. Its membership assembly was open to people of caste and religion. The arrival of Keshav Babu became a curse for the organization and nature of Brahmo Samaj. Thoughts of Maharishi Devendranath and Keshavbabu did not meet, as a result, the Brahmo Samaj was divided. The original Brahmosamaj came to be known as ‘Adi Brahmo Samaj’ and the newly formed society of Keshavbabu became famous as ‘Bharatvarshi Brahmo Samaj’. He was Born on 19 November 1938 in Kolkata.

Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi (19 November 1917–31 October 1984), the Prime Minister of the Republic of India for 3 consecutive terms from 1966 to 1977 and then in the fourth term from 1980 to her political assassination in 1984. She was the first and only woman Prime Minister of India till now. Indira contested elections during 1959 and 1960 and was elected President of the Indian National Congress. His tenure was eventless. She was playing the role of her father’s chief of staff. Nehru died on 27 May 1964, and Indira joined the government, contesting the elections on the inspiration of the new Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and immediately appointed as Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Indira married Firoz Gandhi. Initially, Sanjay was chosen to be his heir, but after his death in a flight accident, his mother reluctantly gave up the pilot’s job to Rajiv Gandhi to enter politics in February 1981. She was Born on 19 November 1917 in Delhi.

Dara Singh (19 November 1928 – 12 July 2012), is a world-famous freestyle wrestler of his time. He won the Commonwealth World Championship in 1959 by defeating former world champion Georges Guardianca. In 1968, he became the world champion of freestyle wrestling by defeating world champion Lou Themes of America. He wrestled till the age of fifty-five and never saw defeat in any one of the five hundred matches. In 1983, after winning the last match of his life, he retired with respect from wrestling. In the nineteen sixties, his freestyle wrestling dominated all over India. He later entered Hindi stunt films with the famous actress of his time, Mumtaz. Apart from acting in many films, Dara Singh also directed and wrote. He gained immense popularity with his portrayal of Hanuman in the TV serial Ramayana. He was Born on 19 November 1928 in Panjab.

Sushmita Sen is an Indian film actress. She won the title of Miss India and Brahmand Sundari in 1994. She defeated Aishwarya Rai in the Miss India pageant. she was previously crowned Femina Miss India 1994 at the age of 18. Sen is the first Indian to win the competition and has since primarily worked in Hindi films. She was Born on 19 November 1975 in Hyderabad.

Death Anniversary

19 November in Indian history is observed as the death anniversary of the following personalities:

Vachaspati Pathak (5 September 1905 – 19 November 1980), is named after famous novelists. He gained particular popularity with the story ‘Kaagaz Ki Topi’. Vachaspati Pathak was not only an important storyteller of his time but also a notable editor. He made his mark as an active warrior of the literary movement. After independence, when the ‘All India Hindi Publishers Association’ was established in Delhi, Pathak Ji was also made its convener. His stories are compiled in books named ‘Dwadashi’ and ‘Pradeep’. He died on 19 November 1980.
