11 June in Indian history is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the following personalities:
Ram Prasad Bismil (11 June 1897 – 19 December 1927), an Indian revolutionary who participated in the Mainpuri conspiracy of 1918, and the Kakori conspiracy of 1925, and fought against British imperialism. He was not only a great freedom fighter of India, but also a poet, poet, translator, multilingualism, and litterateur of a high order. He was the one who sacrificed his life for the freedom of India. Bismil was hanged on 19 December 1927 by the British for his revolutionary activities. Shaheed Smarak Samiti of Shahjahanpur established a memorial at Khirni Bagh mohalla of Shahjahanpur city where Bismil was born in 1897 and named it “Amar Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil Smarak”. He was born on 11 June 1897 in Shahjahanpur, North-Western Provinces, India.
K.S Hegde (11 June 1909 – 24 May 1990), an Indian jurist and politician who served as a judge in the Supreme Court of India and later as the 7th Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Hegde founded the Nitte Education Trust. In 1977, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Bangalore South constituency on a Janata Party ticket. He was born on 11 June 1909 in Kawdoor Village, South Canara, Madras Presidency, British India (Presently Karnataka, India).
Dr. Jeppiaar (11 June 1931 – 18 June 2016), an Indian politician, educationist, and industrialist. He was born on 11 June 1931in Muttom near Nagercoil, Travancore Cochin Presidency, now the Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu.
Lalu Prasad Yadav, an Indian politician, a former Chief Minister of Bihar, former Union Minister of Railways, a former Member of Parliament of the 15th Lok Sabha, and the president of the political party Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He gets into politics at Patna University as a student leader and in 1977 at the age of 29, was elected as the youngest member of the Lok Sabha for the Janata Party. Lalu Prasad became the Chief Minister of Bihar in 1990. His party came to power again in the 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly election in partnership with Nitish Kumar of JDU. In the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, RJD remained the single largest party in Bihar and currently serves as the state’s main opposition party. Yadav is one of the first noted politicians to lose a parliamentary seat on being arrested in a fodder scam as per the Supreme Court decision banning convicted legislators to hold their posts. During his tenure as Chief Minister, Bihar’s law and order were at the lowest, kidnapping was on rising and private armies mushroomed. He was born on 11 June 1948 in Phulwariya, Gopalganj, Bihar, India.
Natarajan Subramanian, an Indian cinematographer, Film Actor, a producer who has worked on Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. He was born on 27 June 1971 in Paramakudi, Tamil Nadu, India.

Death Anniversary

Chhabi Biswas (13 July 1900 – 11 June 1962), an Indian actor, primarily known for his performances in Tapan Sinha’s Kabuliwala and Satyajit Ray’s films Jalshaghar. He died on 11 June 1962 at the age of 61 due to an accident in Naktala, Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
Ghanshyam Das Birla (10 April 1894 – 11 June 1983), an Indian businessman and member of the Birla Family. With an investment of ₹5 million in 1919, the Birla Brothers Limited was formed. In 1926, he was elected to the Central Legislative Assembly of British India. He became the founding president of Harijan Sevak Sangh founded by Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi in 1932. He died on 11 June 1983 at the age of 89.
Mihir Sen (16 November 1930 – 11 June 1997), a prominent Indian long-distance swimmer and businessman. He was the first Indian to succeed the English Channel from Dover to Calais in 1958 and did so in the fourth-fastest time (14 hrs & 45 mins). He was the only man to swim the oceans of the five continents in one calendar year (1966). These included the Palk Strait, Dardanelles, Bosphorus, Gibraltar, and the entire length of the Panama Canal. This unprecedented achievement earned him a place in The Guinness Book of Records as the “world’s greatest long-distance swimmer”. He died on 11 June 1997 at the age of 66 in Calcutta, West Bengal, India.
