Birth Anniversary

10 July in Indian history is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the following personalities:

Gopinath Bordoloi (10 July 1890 – 5 August 1950) a famous freedom fighter of India and the first Chief Minister of Assam. He also actively participated in the national movement. In 1941 AD, he had to go to jail for participating in ‘Individual Satyagraha’ Gopinath Bordolai was again punished for his participation in the ‘Quit India Movement in the year 1942. He got awards including ‘Bharat Ratna’ (1999 AD). He was Bron on 5 August 1950.

Sunil Gavaskar, a former captain of the Indian cricket team, is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. Sunil Gavaskar, popularly known as ‘Little Master’, is one of the legendary batsmen of the world. His family name is Sunil Manohar Gavaskar, which also incorporates his father’s name. He is the only batsman who has scored more than a thousand runs in a single year and he has done this magic four times. He was born on 10 July 1949 in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Rajnath Singh, an Indian politician serving as the Defence Minister of India. He is the former President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has previously served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and as a Cabinet Minister in the Vajpayee Government. Now 30 May 2019 incumbent Minister of Defence. He was Born on 10 July 1951 (age 69) in the Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Begum Parveen Sultana, an Indian Hindustani classical singer of the Patiala Gharana. She was awarded the Padma Bhushan (2014) by the Government of India, Filmfare Best Female Playback Award–Kudrat (1981) for the song “Hame Tumse Pyar Kitna” Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, 1999. She was Bron on 10 July 1950 in Nagaon, Assam, India.

Death Anniversary

10 July in Indian history is observed as the death anniversary of the following personalities:

Bhikhari Thakur (18 December 1887 – 10 July 1971), a Bhojpuri’s capable folk artist, theater artist, message carrier of folk awakening, announcer of women discourse and Dalit discourse, exclusive of folk songs and bhajan kirtan He was a seeker. Bhikhari Thakur’s mother tongue was Bhojpuri and he made Bhojpuri the language of his poetry and drama. Rahul Sankrityayan had called him an ‘ungraded diamond’, while Jagdishchandra Mathur called him an ‘artist of the tradition of Bharat Muni’. He was also called ‘Shakespeare of Bhojpuri’. He died on 10 July 1971.

Abdul Ghafoor (1918 – 10 July 2004) an Indian National Congress politician and Chief Minister of Bihar from 2 July 1973 to 11 April 1975. Abdul Ghafoor served as a cabinet minister during Rajiv Gandhi’s government. He was born in a small village in the Gopalganj district, Bihar in a farming family. Abdul Ghafoor actively participated in the freedom struggle and had to spend his life in jail as well. He died in 1918 in Patna Bihar.

10 July 2012  Dolphy – a Filipino comedian and actor – died.

10 July 2015  Omar Sharif, an Egyptian actor, generally regarded as one of Egypt’s greatest male film stars, died.

10 July 2017 – Amarnath Yatra has attacked in which 7 pilgrims died on this day.

Global Energy Independence Day

On July 10th, Global Energy Independence Day promotes awareness of alternative energy sources. As well as learning about renewable forms of energy, like solar, wind, and geothermal, the day offers opportunities to explore these sources. Interestingly this day also coincides with the birth anniversary of Serbian American inventor Nikola Tesla.
